I am, consequently, in high organization mode. Over the long weekend I did the upstairs bathroom (lovingly nicknamed the Scary Yellow Bathroom, thanks to our landlord's stellar lack of paint-picking ability) and my office. Now my attention turns toward the studio.
I've got tons of lovely work space, but I'm already learning that I need more storage space. Specifically, storage for large flat pieces of paper. I'm currently on the hunt for ways to make such storage for myself and avoid paying hundreds of dollars (and sacrificing valuable floor space) for a flat file.
Any suggestions?
As a bookbinder, a flatfile was the first essential item I needed for my studio/bindery. I would suggest trying eBay - I got one there for about $150, and it was delivered to the curb! You will probably need to find one that's already in your area. People tend to leave them behind when they move. Like printing presses, they tend not to travel around too much. Good luck!
you can easily build a flat file with plywood & 1x2s. also, you can loft it on two 2x4s at each corner, so a desk or soemthing can go underneath it. then you get the cuteness benefit of being able to use a little ladder to get your paper down.
i found you through your comment at weewonderfuls. :) hello!
